Stanford White
Building - Interior
renovation
What a shame! At
least the Landmarks
Society was able to
preserve the
exterior of this
famous Stanford
White building in
Manhattan and will
reinstall the
original mantel
which 100 years ago
was 100 years old
when it was first
installed! The
architecturologists
were able to salvage
some of the interior
items prior to this
complete interior
renovation including
some wooden mantels,
lighting and doors,
doors, doors!
Take a look at just
a sample...

Cooper Union Windows
Copper clad windows
galore! This
building, the Hewitt
Building erected in
1912 housed the
Cooper Union Art
School's art
studios, public
programs and
architectural
archives. The
windows, all copper
clad have either
wavy glass or
chicken wire.
Some of these
windows are 9 feet
tall - with their
rich weathered
patina - these make
great mirrors...

Mantel Season |
|
For all of you who
are in the cold of
winter... you know
nothing beats
sitting around the
fireplace and
getting warm after
being subject to the
winter elements!
100 years ago this
was the
source of heat in
homes and many
builders and
architects didn't
spare when it came
to the design and
detail of the
mantelpiece.
At Olde Good Things,
we specialize in
salvaging fireplace
mantels in all
styles from very
simple and small to
ornate and
excessive.
Remember, we
purchased and
removed the marble
mantels from the
Plaza Hotel in NYC
during their recent
renovation.
Take a look at just
a sample of the
mantels currently in
our inventory...
