East German Consulate
Park Avenue & 38th Street, NYC

56park.jpg (12277 bytes)

What a history this building has.  Purchased from Milton Ackerman in 1971, it served as the East German Consulate until the uniting of the Germanys made it unnecessary.  (The owner before Ackerman is rumored to be Wells Fargo.)  Recently purchased by the American Scandinavian Foundation, it is being razed to make way for a new Scandinavian House...

with salvage being done by the Architecturologists, of course...
